This week The Production Depot took delivery of yet another RED Camera, bringing the ‘Depot’s fleet of RED Packages up to eight !
The Production Depot’s first RED ONE Camera was delivered in February 2008. They undertook extensive tests both in-house, and also out on Location, with some of Irelands leading Cameramen. These RED tests took place over a 3 month period and in parallel with these, the ‘Depot’ also installed an extensive Apple G5 system, complete with Apple 24” HD Screen and Mac Book pro. This system then allowed the ‘Depot’ to use their in-house IT expertise learn and work through all possible RED data transfers and workflows. This also allows Clients to test the Camera and view Test rushes all on site at the ‘Depot’. The ‘Depot’ staff then undertook to educate themselves on all aspects of the RED workflows, associated Programs and software such as REDCINE, RED RUSHES, and RED ALERT prior to any rental taking place.
The ‘Depot’ has a policy of constantly upgrading the RED Camera Firmware / Builds as they are released and fully tested by RED themselves. The ‘Depot’ started at with their first RED Camera working in ‘Build 15’ and are currently utilising ‘Build 17’ on all productions which is a vast improvement. The ‘Depot’ are currently extensively testing ‘Build 18’ which is in Beta -test mode at present but gives great results shooting 4K Anamorphic.
